A wrap-around case packer forms the shipping case around the collated product from a single flat blank, rather than erecting a pre-made box and dropping product into it.
The blank is drawn from the magazine and positioned under the pack, wraps up around it through the machine’s index stations, and is hot-melt glued and held under four-side compression while the adhesive sets.
Because the blank carries no manufacturer’s joint and wraps tight to the product, the finished case uses materially less board, holds more column strength and stacks more efficiently on the pallet.
Collation is chosen to suit the pack, which is why the platform handles pouches and bags as comfortably as tubs and cartons.

What is a wrap-around case packer?
A wrap-around case packer forms the shipping case around the collated product from a single flat blank, rather than erecting a pre-made box and loading it. The blank folds up around the pack, is hot-melt glued and held in compression, producing a tight, square case with no visible tape.
How much board does wrap-around save versus RSC?
Our own engineering comparison, using an identical internal case of 244 × 204 × 94 mm, gives 0.2086 m² of blank for wrap-around against 0.2665 m² for RSC — a 21.7% reduction. You also avoid the corrugator’s gluing charge for the manufacturer’s joint. Confirm delivered price per thousand with your board supplier.

Up to 30 cases per minute on typical builds. Rate depends on case size and how many products go into each one — a small case with a low product count runs near the top of the range, while a large case holding a high count of bottles runs well below it.
What case sizes can it handle?
Roughly 100 × 60 × 60 mm minimum to 1,000 × 600 × 500 mm maximum. Because every machine is purpose-built, the important number is your size range rather than your largest case — the range determines the design and the changeover method.
Can a wrap-around case packer make shelf-ready packaging?
Yes, and it’s the preferred format for it, because of the square front flap and the absence of visible tape. We supply designs currently accepted by the major Australian retailers, with the erect-fold-seal sequence engineered so perforations aren’t damaged.
How long is a size changeover?
Under 20 minutes for a single operator on a standard machine, and around 10 minutes where a high proportion of adjustment points are automated. Changeover is tool-less, change parts are colour-coded, no part exceeds 2 kg, and nothing requires climbing inside the machine.
Does it use glue or tape?
Hot melt glue. Wrap-around cases are glued rather than taped, which is what gives the clean pack face — there’s no place to run tape on a wrap-around case without spoiling it. Nordson is fitted as standard, with Robatech available.
What board grades can it run?
E, B and C flute, including recycled content, to AS3537. We’ll also give you the blank design rules before you order board — constant minor flap width, constant manufacturer’s flap width, 2mm product clearance and a varnish-free glue area.
Can it handle flexible packs like pouches?
Yes, and it’s one of the strongest applications. Flexible packs are collated and loaded by delta-arm robot, which also delivers consistent depth-wise compression into the case — something a drop-load machine can’t do.
Does the machine need lubrication?
No continuous lubrication. UHMWPE chain tracks run dry and bearings are sealed for life, which takes a recurring maintenance task and a contamination risk off your line.
