Fully Automatic Pallet Stretch Wrappers

The film is attached, wrapped, cut and wiped — and nobody has to be standing there.

Wrapping without an operator

Attached, wrapped, cut and wiped, unattended.

A fully automatic pallet wrapper wraps without an operator present.

Film is attached to the load, the pallet is wrapped, and the film is cut and wiped automatically — triggered either by remote control from the forklift, or by a run of pallet conveyor that feeds, wraps and discharges unattended.

We build two architectures. On a turntable machine the pallet conveys on and rotates while a mast-mounted film carriage travels up and down, which suits stable, regular loads running inline.

On a rotary arm machine the pallet stays still and the arm rotates around it, which is the right answer for very heavy loads, light or unstable loads that shouldn’t be spun, irregular shapes and oversized pallets.

Both integrate directly with the palletisers and conveyors we also build.

  • Two architectures built in Melbourne: an automatic turntable up to 36 pallets per hour, and a rotary arm up to 55
  • The rotary arm keeps the pallet still and rotates around it, which is what makes heavy, unstable, irregular and oversized loads viable
  • Automatic pause and resume on film break or run-out — the cycle continues from where it stopped, so you don’t lose or re-wrap the pallet
  • A pallet lifter wraps under the pallet, locking the load to the pallet rather than just to itself
  • Opt-in / opt-out bypass lets already-wrapped pallets pass straight through, keeping a single-track flow

FAQ

What is a fully automatic pallet wrapper?

A fully automatic wrapper wraps a pallet with no operator present. It attaches the film to the load, wraps it, then cuts and wipes the film automatically. It’s triggered either by remote control from the forklift or by pallet conveyor, which feeds, wraps and discharges pallets unattended.

How fast is a fully automatic pallet wrapper?

Up to 36 pallets per hour on the turntable machine and up to 55 on the rotary arm. Rate depends on load height and the wrap pattern you specify. Above around 55 pallets per hour you’re into ring wrappers, and above 100 into stretch hooding.

Turntable or rotary arm — which do I need?

A turntable spins the pallet, which suits stable, regular loads running inline on conveyor. A rotary arm keeps the pallet still and rotates around it — the right choice for very heavy loads, light or unstable loads that shouldn’t be spun, irregular shapes, and oversized pallets.

Does the top sheet applicator slow the machine down?

A mid-cycle applicator does, because the wrap cycle pauses while the sheet is applied. An in-line applicator carries no rate penalty at all. If you need both a top sheet and your full rate, specify in-line at quote stage.

What happens if the film breaks or runs out mid-wrap?

The machine slows and returns the film carriage to home. The operator replaces the roll, attaches the film to the load, and the cycle continues from where it stopped. You don’t lose the pallet and you don’t re-wrap it from the beginning.

Can it wrap under the pallet?

Yes. A pallet lifter in the roller turntable raises the load so film can be applied beneath the pallet, locking the load to the pallet. That’s what actually stops loads sliding off the pallet in transit.

How many pallets a day justifies going fully automatic?

Volume is often not the trigger. Above roughly 30 pallets per hour it’s the obvious answer, but plenty of sites below that go fully automatic for accumulation and buffering, to decouple forklift availability from the wrap cycle, or because a robot palletiser upstream makes the whole process unattended.

Can it integrate with our palletiser?

Yes, and we build the palletisers too — including interfaced E-stops and shared safety and isolation, verified at Factory Acceptance Test. One supplier, one control platform, one point of support when something needs attention.

Can it handle pallets already wrapped elsewhere?

Yes — ask for opt-in / opt-out wrap bypass. Pre-wrapped pallets pass straight through the wrapper and top sheet dispenser without action, keeping a single-track flow. We’ve built it as an operator push button, as an automated vehicle signal, and as a straight-through path.

Can an AGV or AMR feed the wrapper?

Yes. We’ve built interfaces where the vehicle signals wrap-both, wrap-one or no-wrap, with ultrasonic sensing confirming the vehicle is clear before pallets move. The wrapper doesn’t care what delivers the pallet — the interface design is what matters.

What does a fully automatic wrapping cell need from my building?

6 m ceiling clearance, a 4 m × 4 m access door for delivery, a 3-tonne forklift with 4.5 m lift, a concrete slab suitable for Dyna Bolt fixings, 415V three-phase power at 20A per system, and compressed air at 6 bar and 350 L/min.
